Hello, Gang! I have not been here for a while, so I thought I would give an update for anyone who is interested, especially since everyone has been so helpful.

Step 1 (Sell the business) has been accomplished. However, the company that bought our business is making it financially advantageous for us to stay with the new company for either 2 ˝ years, or until someone else buys them. We figure a little wait would be ok, considering the circumstances. It will put us in a much better position for the move.

In the mean time, we still think of Wellington a lot and will probably make another trip before the BIG jump, and this time we’ll bring the little stinkers with us! The little science-junkies are going to LOVE Te Papa and the glow worm caves (as well as that new playground by the museum).

I hope NZ still needs computer geeks by then…

Thanks again!

Hi Pearce

Sorry to hear the move has been postponed for a bit, but from where I am sitting it certainly sounds like you made a good decision. :nice1

New Zealand will still be here in 3 years and you have so much to look forward to, especially if you are coming over for a trip meanwhile. Oh and plus loads of time to do all the planning etc. :laugh

If you can drag them out of Tepapa, your little ones will love the new Waitangi Park. It was heaving down there at the weekend, especially on the skate ramp.

I'm sure there will still be a big need for geeks.........:D

Good luck in what you do - as Smiler said, NZ will still be there in 2 or 3 years time.

Pearce, I'm sorry to hear that your move has been postponed, but at least it sounds as though you will still be able to emigrate when you are ready, and living nicely until then.

Jeff has a job offer in Auckland, and they finally gave him a drop-dead date of April 17 to start work, so we had to book a ticket for him to go on March 31 with me staying here until the house sold. That was pretty scary; however, we signed a contract to sell our home last week, so now I know that I won't be far behind. It's a huge relief to have the house sold before he goes, and not be wondering how many months it might be before I could follow him. I'm a computer geek too; I know that Wellington would have better opportunities for me, but I'm hoping that I'll be able to find something in Auckland.

Keep us posted on your plans for NZ!

Regards,

Jo
