I know what it can be like looking for a rental property over here - looked at loads that personally I considered unfit for human habitation! Anyway if there is anyone coming over soon and heading to Auckland I have a friend who is looking to rent out her family home for 6 months whilst she is in France (mid April to mid October)

The house is a fully furnished beautiful Spanish Mission style 3 bedroom family home. There is a double integral garage and a lovely walled garden. The house is in a good road in Pt Chevalier ( just west of the city centre) and is walking distance to primary school, beach, park and cafes (kiwis love their cafes). The bus stop to the city is at the end of the road ( my hubby takes it to work every day) or you can drive in (about 30mins or 10 mins off peak).

It is a lovely house and if you are thinking of coming over and not necessarily rushing into buying - which may be a good thing with the exchange rate going in the right direction and house prices faltering - then pm me if you'd like to look at photos on web and I'll let you have the site and contact details.

Your friend's place sounds like a great place for us to stay while we wait for our stuff to arrive and while we make other housing arrangements. Will she allow two cats (strictly indoor cats, neutered, trained to scratch only on scratching posts and pads)? If not, that's o.k., but we would need a place for our cats by early to mid June. We're homeowners currently, have great credit, and I am a doctor with a job in Auckland. I will arrive this Sunday, 2, April. If the house is still available and we sound o.k. to you, I would love to know about the rent and to see some photos of the place. Also, I'm still not clear on where Pt.Chevalier is since I don't see it on my atlas. Is it near Parnell? I will be working in Ellerslie. Thanks.
