Ok, maybe it's just me and my doctor, but I have to ask. Do most of the doctors over here just do a cursory glance when you go in? The two doctors I have seen give me the general impression that the just don't want to bl***y be here. There not kiwis though. No offense to anyone, but they are British. I just want a doctor that actually gives a toss. I'm used to very thorough exams when I am sick and that from someone who just might want to help me. I'm not getting that here.
Opinions, experiences, etc...???

I have seen three GP's (for Andrew), first one is lovely, English, very chatty.
2nd one not so chatty, but was onto the problem straight away.
3rd one not chatty, but efficient, and did appear to care...
When I was pregnant, all the docs I came into contact with were nice (some of the midwives were grumpy moos though! but they were the minority)
Same the world over I guess...

Our first doctor in ChCh was Dr misdiagnosis.
He failed to spot our (then) 2 year old son`s broken collarbone, the 24hr clinic(brilliant place, been there loads!)on Bealey Ave did spot it 2 days later!
The next doctor we had was great, well he could recognise medical problems at least!
We have had "rubbish" docs in the UK too,i think our bad experience was a one off.

I have 2 encounters with the doctors here........................
I was pretty ill when I just arrived in NZ as tourists. The doctor near my rental home is very chatty and he do a thorough check up on me. He arrange me to go for a couple of blood tests (just to be sure) and prescribe some medicines. He said that I was suffering from physical and mental stress because of the immigration (I told him that I packed up all the household stuff by myself while OH went to work). A couple of days later, he rang up and told me the results of my blood tests and also asked how I feel after taking the medicines.
Last year, I suffered a sore back and visited the doctor near my present home. She asked me a lot of questions and made me do some stretching before she prescribe some medicines to relieve my pain.

Wow, I guess I'm just very unlucky. I'll have to check around. I only go to this practice because it's very close to home. Looks like I'll be going into the city for doctor visits.
Thanks everyone!
