Hello everyone just a quick question regarding application for residence visa.
We lodged our application on January the 11th and just wondered if anyone who had lodged a applicaton around the same time, had heard anything back yet. My understanding of the process is that if we are succesful we will be assigned a case officer and receive a phone call to arrange an interview. (very nervous already, just talking about it) I guess that they are working through the applications and as we have no job offer yet we are not very far up the pile!
My other worry is that we are going on holiday to New Zealand in April and that they will try to contact us whilst we are there. I have emailed the London office advising of the dates we are away so hopefully they will wait until we get back (with good news we hope) and this won't delay our application any further.

I assume you have applied under the Skilled Migrant Category ?


If so, have a look at this link - it may give you an idea of when you may expect to hear from NZIS.

You could try this cheap rate telephone number too, should you wish to speak to a real human being !! 01344 716199 then * key twice, followed by option 9.

We are in a similar position to you......its a killer this waiting isn't it ?

They are working on files submitted up to and including the 22 November. They have a back log due to so many applications being submitted to them to beat the medical changes (28th November).

We applied on the 6th Jan...........still waiting! Shouldn't be long now, 3/4 weeks I hope!

Thanks all for taking the time to respond. It's reassuring to know others are in the same boat with regards dates and waiting.
On the basis of what we have read and the back log due to the volume of applications, it appears we won't hear anything until we return in May anyway, so we will do as much home work as possible whist on holiday and our intentions are to visit some companies on our travels if only to submit C.V's, as we currently don't have an offer of employment.
After two years at this and getting this far I suppose another couple of months isn't going to hurt.

Hi there!
Well by my own experience I also know how difficult it can be being waiting. I applied last June and got my PR on October so they just took 4 months in the answer my PR was approved cos my husband is a Kiwi, so I do not know if the time was little because of that. I can tell you tho, that my husband was calling as many times he could to ask how long will it be till i get my residence, so i believe they got tired of listening to him and finally send it to me :D
I just can tell you that i wish you the best of luck and to do put a little bit of pressure to them.
