Has anyone contacted the Teachers Council recently and heard that they're massively backlogged? Spoke to a nice lady on the phone this morning who said that they're just looking at application for registration sent in to their office in late February. Any news? I have interest from a few schools regarding employment, but I'm loathe to go any further without knowing when my regsitartion will be completed.

My girlfriend got her registration back last week and she applied in early february, however we had to get the police check re-done because the original was 7 months old this delayed it a bit, the registration card is going to arrive in the next week we have been told. The letter has already arrived. you shouldn't have to wait much longer.
If you dont mind me asking What subject do you teach and how have you got a school interested in you so early in the year?
Are you using agencies or applying direct to the schools?
your answers will help us greatly as we are trying to work out if we can get a job offer from this side of the pond. She teaches English language by the way.
good luck hope your approval comes soon. :)

Thanks for the encouraging words. Hopefully, the registration will be finished by mid-May, then. I'm lucky, I guess, because I teach math, science and English, but my interest has been for science. I'm still thinking about it, and like I said, I prefer to have the registration done before I do anything else. I've only applied to schools myself, as I've read that the agencies don't really do anything different than what you normally do by yourself, and I kind of like the personal touch :D

Hi Jewelsvani,
Can I please ask you how long into the process was your girlfriend before they told her to renew her police check ? The reason I ask is I sent mine about 2 weeks ago just as my police check would be around 6 months old - they have sent an automated email to say the application arrived and would take 4 - 6 weeks. Am i likely to be asked for a new check do you think ? Also (sorry to go on) how long did her new police check take and did they tell her the registration was all in hand once that was on its way ? Wondering if I should start trying for a new police check now.
Many thanks,
tracey

If your check is as old as you say it is then they will more than likely tell you to get a new one. This only delayed it by a week or two the registration card came within 7 days of sending the new form to them. This was after they had her documents for 7 weeks ish.Did take longer than 6 weeks though more like 2 months. :)
