A little update from me :D
Fast on the heels of hubby's job offer in March (Palmerston North Airport - Aircraft Engineer/Pilot), I got offered a job as a Software QA Analyst at Provenco in Palmy :nice1 I jumped at it.
The kids are registered at Freyberg (sp?) school and the rental house is nearly sorted :D
We booked our flights last Friday and we arrive on 22nd July.
What a difference 5 days make! woohoo! :raebanana
Hope everyone is well.

Oh I know, I'm obsessive about my planning! It drives hubby nuts, but he'll be grateful when we get there and he actually has a roof over his head!

I have been busy, we're also trying to re-home our dog, and we've had loads of people come to see him, it's taken up most of our evenings.
If anyone knows anyone who can offer a good home to a white German Shepherd, please let me know. (Sorry to go completely off-topic).

Excellent news. Bet you're dying to get back out here now. :cheers
Are you still hoping to live in Masterton or are you off to Palmerston now ?
Good luck with re-homing the dog, must have been a hard decision for you.

Yayyyy, well done Dawn :raebanana :raebanana . I was wondering about you the other day too. Glad to hear it is all coming together. Good luck with rehoming your dog - we rehomed our cats before coming out here and it was heart breaking, but we felt it was best for them (we've not been here four weeks yet and I'm researching Devon Rex breeders in NZ). Let us know how the rest of the preparations go.

Good luck you two - wonder how you managed to secure jobs - did you visit beforehand?
As for the re-homing the animals, we got it all to come :( Not looking forward to it.

Oh yes, yes, yes! I want the next 100 days to go faaaaaaast!
We'll be in Masterton for about 3 weeks, then we'll move into the house in Palmy :D
Awful decision, but the right one for everyone and especially Huxley.
What will you do when you get here, everything will be sorted?
I hope so! What will I do? I wil go shopping! Yay! I'll need to furnish the house and I've got a few weeks to help the family settle in before I start work.

Hello, how are you settling in - good luck on finding a kitty
Good luck you two - wonder how you managed to secure jobs - did you visit beforehand? As for the re-homing the animals, we got it all to come
Chris phoned around a few Aircraft Engineering firms and secured himself interviews, they interviewed him over the phone and offered him the job there and then. He did have to fax over all his certificates.
I registered with Duncan Ryan after Chris got his job and said I specifically wanted Palmy. They called me with a telephone interview offer, Provenco were obviously happy with the outcome as the following week, I had a video conference interview. The following day, they offered me the job. They paid for the video conferncing too, I just had to find a local venue.
Ah the animals. I don't envy you, it's very traumatic. The emotional ups and downs are awful. I've changed my mind over and over this week. he's coming, he's being re-homed! :(
Depending on when you are going, start now! It's been 4 weeks since we started advertising Huxley, we've had plenty of time wasters and only one person who really wanted him, but we had to turn them down as not suitable. He's a big German Shepherd and they had a tiny house and no parks or other suitable walking places nearby.
Everyone else, thanks for your kind words and good wishes! :raebanana

Dawn,
when you wrote WHITE german shepherd, did you actually mean WHITE, as in white all over?
Never seen a white one before. I thought they were all brown and black.
Sorry, off topic, just intruiged. Sorry I can't have him - i'm in NZ and I guess if you got him here you would keep him rather than send him round to my house!
Wish you all the best with the other stuff too. I have friends in Palmy - in Summerhill Heights near the uni. The park there is TERRIFIC. The entrance has 2 lines of palm trees and a couple of small paddling pools, Looks just like Tracey Island on thunderbirds. Not sure if Palmy park was based on thunderbirds or vice versa. Loads of play equipment and free gas powered barbies (the only free ones i've seen in NZ). Also a great little community hall with free hydroboil for making tea, train rides at a $1 a go, huge aviary (with a talking parrot). Great swimming pool there too. Very modern.
Sorry if you've already been there and know this already!

Hi Hannah,
He is indeed white, and gorgeous :D

He's been rehomed now, he goes to his new owner in June, so we get a little bit of extra time with him :D
Thanks for the info, I know nothing about Palmy at all, I've only ever driven through it, so that's great to hear, we'll definitely check out the park.

I am glad that you have found a good home for your dog, he is a good looking dog, could you not take him with you, he's lovely.
We have a dog, border collie (blue Merle) did not know what to do as I know it will cost at least £2000 looking at other threads. She was originaly OH sister's dog, who now lives in NZ, she said she would pay or go half so as long as she is fit and well will probable take her. We were concerned when we were on holiday that dogs where restricted in a lot of areas including the camp sites. We have a camper in England and would hope to get one there, however as stated many of the camp sites we stayed at in Nov 05 said no dogs.

It's a very long story, but the main bit of it is that we won't be living where we expected to when we move and we don't think it's fair to expect Hux to go into kennels as soon as he arives, we would take him if we could, but he's going to have a great life now and we're happy about that.
The money wasn't really a problem, we got a quote of £2500 from Golden Arrow and we would have paid it if we'd have been moving to a house that we would be able to take dog to. For love nor money, can I find a house to rent in Palmy that will accept a german shepherd.
Good luck with you decision :D
