Hello there,
Does anyone have any recommendations for booking flights back to the UK?
We need to return for a couple of weeks at the end of August (2006). I've not had much luck in finding web sites that deal in flights back to the UK from Auckland. Some of the airline web sites offer this facility but some of the prices made scarry reading! I know we can find flights for arround $1800.
We are currently based in Wellingon and ideally would like to fly pretty much direct to the UK (via Auckland), but stop over in Singapore on the way back to catch up with family over there.
If anyone has any experience of this or good links it would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.
Ian.

We spent hours on the internet on www.zuji.com (http://www.zuji.com) and the individual airlines, and in the end we went into Flight Centre, cost total $5500 for two adults and a baby, via Hong Kong.
However this was not the cheapest available, as we chose to fly with Air NZ as we had flown with them before and did not want to take a chance on the likes of Asiana or Korean with our first flight with a bub.
Good Luck, give flight centre a call, we found them really good.

AirNZ are doing some special offers at the moment and like Sal we use Flight Centre over ziji.com as they can usually beat their prices.
Air NZ have also got 10% off holidays at the mo.

Thanks Guy's...
Many thanks for that. The information should be really helpful.
Zuji and the Flight Centre are the only two that I've found...so I guess I'm on the right lines!
I think you tend to take these sort of things for granted when you are based in the UK...we found so many cheap flights out, but getting back seems rather more expensive. Still, I'd rather be here than over there! I guess bigger air fare's are a small price to pay in the scheme of things. I'm looking forward to going back...just to catch up...but I think now this is home, I'll be pleased to be returning. We are only 5 weeks in, but it feels as though this is a place where other people live (you know, when you visit on holiday and wish you could stay!). We feel so fortunate to be here that I can't really imagine going back to settle in the UK.
Once again, many thanks, your information is much appreciated.
Regards,
Ian.

Hi Ian
I've just booked a trip back to the UK from Wellington for November this year.
I used Flight Centre as Zuji always came back with the same prices, quite expensive. I ended up getting hold of Karen Jelas, she's in Featherston Street in Wellington Flight Centre. She's been fantastic and sorted all my worries and problems out.
I've ended up getting a flight with Singapore Air for $2700 that's with the taxes included. The nice thing is I'm going via Christchurch not Auckland then onto Singapore, Heathrow.
I can really recommend Karen :nice1

Hi Sizzlingbadger,
Many thanks for that.
I'll call in and see what they can arrange. Your price certainly looks cheaper than those advertised on the Singapore Airlines web site! When I checked their site I tought they were quoting for a tour party rather than just the two of us!

Ian

I too have booked my flight through the Flight Centre. I'm flying in 2 weeks on Emirates from Auckland to Manchester. I looked at the price on-line and then went into the Flight Centre and asked outright if they could better it. Not only did they better it, they managed to get me an earlier connection flight (which on-line I was told was unavailable).

We had the same problem when booking through Singapore Air website. It came back $10,000 per adult ! ! I think it's because they don't fly direct into Wellington only Auckland and Christchurch. This where the Flight Centre comes in and sorts the price out.

Many thanks for your replies. The Flight Centre seems to be the place to go.
