Hi all

Just been to the airport to pick up our dog Harvey who arrived on the 5.15am flight with Air New Zealand. I was so happy to see him safe and well after such a long flight - I know how grotty I felt when I arrived! Anyway, I just wanted to tell people who are maybe thinking about bringing their pet over, or may be undecided I would have no reservation in recommending Golden Arrow Animal Shippers. They have been absolutely brilliant. Harvey has been well looked after (my sister checked in on them in England to make sure) and all the paperwork, testing etc that goes with bringing an animal was done efficiently and we had no problems this end.

Harvey has to take medication everyday as he suffers with epilepsy but this was taken care of for us, he was given his tablets just before his kennel was sealed at Heathrow and the tablets were wrapped and sealed to the outside so that as soon as he was unsealed he could have his next dose.

I'm so pleased with how it's all gone.

Also, our container arrived on Wednesday after leaving England on 19th February. We used John Mason to ship everything and again - we've been so pleased with them I wanted to pass that on to anyone looking into shippers.

The guys who packed the stuff in England worked like greased lightening and were very courteous - the container arrived on time and was unpacked and brought to our house by The Moving Company (Jonah Lomu's brother Noah was one of the guys who moved it all in!!! How Cool!) They had it in and sorted in a few hours and even took our domestic rubbish away with them as we'd missed the refuse collectors!

All our stuff is fine - no mould, nothing broken apart from one wine glass which I'm not bothered about and the house now feels like home again.

Everybody has different experiences with companies but again, I wouldn't hesitate to sing the praises of John Mason and the Moving Company, we're chuffed to bits with how things have gone.

Just for info - it cost us £2400 to bring the dog over and the 20ft container we had from John Mason cost £3456 and that took the contents of a four bedroomed house, garage and shed.

If anyone wants any more info drop me a pm.

Good luck to you all at the planning stage - I can tell you without reservation that it is soooo worth all the stress and aggro ....... I'm off again aren't I.

It's good to hear everything went well.

You must be pleased to have your stuff and Harvey all back together again.

I agree, whatever the stress and hassle we go through to get here, it is certainly worth it. :nice1

Got my first estimator round on monday...I have whittled our belongings down to around 12+ boxes, (they are taking up a corner of the sun room up roughly 5ftx1ftx3ft.)_
so I will let you know how much our meager belongings (OK my sentimental Junk + summer clothes and orange Juice, doritos & bisto ;) will cost)

Got £500 for our LCD TV! :nice1 and a £100 for a surround sound set,2 mobis & a sat reciever transponder thingy (wireless thingy so you could watch sky in another room)

They have a cash converters in NZ dont they...maybe I'll replace it all from there...ha ha

Kat, have you seen the prices that things go for on Trade me?? I taking all my junk with me :laugh. Seriously, I have the cot, the exact same on is going for £5 on Ebay, I kid you not, I'd rather give it away than take that. Trade me, similar cot, over $100. As we are taking a container anyway, will load it up to the gunnels. Similarly, prams etc. going for very good prices whereas in UK, people want stuff for buttons. But you know what they say about plans...!

As a dog lover (fanatic), I can appreciate how happy you must have been to see your precious dog safe and sound on the other side of the world. One of the main things stopping us from making the move is our 10 yr old dog. Dogs from Canada will need to be quarantined for a month and we can not be bothered putting her and our equally precious cat in for that long a period of time. As for the expenses in moving them to NZ, we couldn't care less even if it cost a shipload!

Good luck with everything
