Yep, that's what a Kiwano is! We decided to try out this weird fruit we saw in Woolworths and it's not what we expected at all!

Tastes nice - weird but nice - almost like liquidized banana mixed with granny smith tartness and melon background... and it looks like mashed snot!!

If anyone remembers Neil in the Youngs Ones when he had the flu..... :laugh that should set the scene!!

Here are some pics to whet your appetite :D

It's pretty hard NOT to eat the seeds! They're encased in the green jelly and bloomin' hard to get out - so we just ate it all !!! :o

Make sure you post in 24hrs to let us know you survived!

I'm sure the producers of Dr Who would be interested - cheap extras!

They sell here in florida for $4.00 a pop. these things and the grape apples are the latest addition to our exotics in the produce section. I haven't tried them yet.

For those of us from the UK - the outside looks like an orange conker!

And as for the inside, well "seedy snot" kinda sums it up pretty well I think!

looks a bit odd to eat up with a spoon, but I bet it would be wonderful a pavlova topping! along with some berries
