Hello all
We were hoping to get our diesel car(s) to NZ when we emigrate next yr (hopefully). The odometers in the car here in UK are in 'miles'. The fact that diesel cars are subject to Road User Charges-based on distances do the odometers have to be converted to 'KMs' before thay deemed to be registrable?. Thankfully the speedometers also have Kms so I am assuming that should be OK.
also one of the diesel cars(SAAB) that we own is not available in NZ.Will servicing/repairs be a problem. I spoke to two different dealers in NZ -one in auckland and other in wellington and got 2 different answers-one said-will be a problem especially for parts, the other was not too worried. has anyone any experience with this situation.

Hi Rav

Not personal experience but a friend has a UK spec car and when it needed a particular part not immediately available here, their old dealer couriered the part out in a week. They ordered and paid online etc.

Can't really help with the diesel mileage query. Our's is petrol but has the speedo in both and I find this difficult when checking my speed as the KM's is small and in red, but have you looked at the LTSA site http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/commercial/ruc.html here?

Hope this helps a bit. :D
