When we land in Auckland in Aug :raebanana , we will be lucky enough to be able to travel around for a month in a motorhome while we check out the 3 choices we have of where to live (which is geting more every time we look on the net at what is for sale).
we're not far off booking one and have got it down to 4 companys
1.Apollo
2.Britz
3.Muai
4.Tui
We think that a 6 berth will be better in that there will be more room for us all ,while we travell round the North Island.
Has anyone done this before and do you have any tip's or suggestion's on this.
Cheers

Do a search on this site for camper vans as opposed to motorhomes and you'll find some good links.
Also do a google on 'Top Ten' camp sites, NZ. They will send you brochures and a NZ map of all their sites etc.

Hi - I know marcia on the forum travelled around there recently. Drop them a pm (hope you don't mind marcia?!). They used a motorhome and have some good advice.
And have you heard of our NW meets? Although we are extremely busy over the coming month, we should be setting up another one soon. You are more than welcome to come along and natter and say hi to like minded people.
Good luck!

We rented a motorhome for 10 weeks when we arrived in NZ - booked from the UK from Adventure Motorhomes, think the website is nzmotorhomes.com or similar. They were cheaper than Maui etc, and it was fine. pm me for more details if you're interested, and I will look up the website and post the url later.
Top ten campsites are good, and you can buy a discount card which gives you 10% off.

No problems Stevie!!
Have already pm'd about our exploits.
We too used adventure rentals, cheaper than the others, they have a rep in the uk, so no having to wait up to ring NZ time to sort out. motorhome was well equiped, no complaints.

We used Adventure Motorhomes to, as they were by far the cheapest. We had great service from them. I would go for a 6 berth if I was you, there were the 4 of us and it would have felt very cramped in anything smaller. One thing I would advise is to take a 4 socket 1 meter extension lead, then you only need 1 adapter.

Anyone know of a company that allows dogs in it's motorhomes. We're due a holiday and would love a cheap one with the kids and the dog.

I do not know if they take dogs however we had a four berth motorhome, went through Nomad, basic however good price and had no bother with the vehicle. We picked up from Wellington, very friendly man, left the motorhome at Auckland office.

Thanks for that - can't see any info about pets, but I guess we'll phone and ask nearer the time.
Cheers
