Hello all ,
we have been lurking around this forum for a while now , so i thought i would make a post , although it sounds a bit backwards for an emmigrating to NZ forum.

We returned to the UK from NZ about 6months ago after living there for about 3 years ,.
Not everything worked out for us at the time so we thought it would be best to come back , see family ,and earn some decent money whilst we decided where the best place to live would be.

however we had to leave behind our dog Lucky that we had bought in NZ for our daughter , as it had to be vaccinated against rabies (even though NZ rabies free island :? )

Lucky the dog will be flying to Heathrow , next month :P , but does anybody , have any experience in how dogs cope with a flight like this.
any suggestions on how she can be made more comfortable would be much appreciated.

thanks
Anna

we brought our two over a couple of weeks ago the other way and they were both dehydrated when they arrived but otherwise coped well. Chippie the youngest one got the shakes in the car for the first few times he went out in it but has got over that now.

When you go to pick the dog up take water and a bowl with you and don't do what we did and give them as much as they want in one hit. give a cupfull at a time with a 5 /10 min gap between. one of our dogs drank an enormous amount and then threw up!!.

They also have to adjust to food time. ours were convinced that 5 a.m. was T time.

Thanks for tips veronica , will take water with me

when you collected your dogs , had they been taken out of their crates and examined by MAF or anything first , before you got to them , or were they still crated ?
glad to know your dogs were okay , our daughter is so exited about getting lucky back , its been a long seven months.

:cheers
Anna
