I'm going to be in Masterton for four days next week - any suggestions on things to do outside working hours?

Having now spent seven days in Masterton over a period of a couple of weeks I think I'm getting an idea why my original post didn't get any replies.

Oh yes it is!

Sorry I didn't reply to your first post, I missed it. Hubby is originally from Masterton adnd we were originally planning to settle there when we come over, but we've changed it for Pamy as there's more there to do.

In a couple of year's time, Masterton's facelift will be complete and it will be better, but for now, it's pretty quiet.

I Just found this list (http://www.mstn.govt.nz/Clubs2002.pdf) last night. Of course these clubs might only have one person each :laugh

So what's wrong with Masterton?
I actually quite like the place. We regularlyhave a weekend over there.

Don't think I want to live (I'm too much of a townie) - but the town itself is lovely. That park that the communitiy built for little kids is fantastic.

There's nothing wrong with Masterton, I just thought the lack of replies to the first post a good opportunity for a small bit of humour ;)

I didn't see too much of it it daylight, being stuck in conferences all day long. I took the train there from Wellington and thought the surrounding countryside was very like Nth Canterbury, and Masterton itself not unlike Rangiora. Compared to Oxford it is a thriving metropolis, a bit busy too busy for me really :)
If the job market in Christchurch dries up, the Waiarapa is definately on the list of possibles for the future.

I think I did pass through a park, although it was dark - if it's the same one it had a restaurant in the middle that we went to.
