Hi All,
We are needing some help please. When we did the "quick check" on our side we got 115. We were just about to submit our EOI, and thought we'd just double check ourselves and do the FREE immigration assesment by a New Zealand company. We were very disappointed today when he came back to us and said no we actually only get 65 points, sa my qualifications do not count. Please can some one assist and let us knopw what you think. Quick details are:
me: age: 34; IT system administrator, 15years exp in IT; family in NZ; microsoft certificates
partner: age:28; Financial Planning industry; 4 years exp.
Do you think 65 sounds right?
If so we are going to have to get a job offer first. We are obviously looking at being in Nz by the end of the year....would it be advisable to wait and get a job offer...or go to NZ on a Work Visa then find a job then apply for PR.
Really would approcate some help here...feeling a bit down about todays news. :wah

Mmm, I would be careful with some of these agents, we had one say forget it to us too, and we fly out in 28 days!!! :clap
Also you have put that you have family in NZ so you have that route as well, the best way to find out is to submit your EOI, and if you have put everything down truefully and have evidence to support it, the only problem will be that you will have to get your certificates verified......this is around £25 for an initial assesment (which you can do before submitting your EOI)
hope that helps...I'm not in IT(office mgr) and hubby is a sheet metal worker.

Hello Sir, ( just like being back at school ;) )
You say you've done the quick points calculator. I take it that you mean the one on the official Govt immigration site, yes ?
If that indicated you had enough points to proceed with an EOI, then that should be ok. If you have the qualifications you say you have, it seems to me that the ' Free immigration Assessment ' people have made a mistake.
Just out of curiousty, did this immigration company offer further help to get you through the process in return for a fee. If so, stay well clear of them.
If you're still uncertain about it, have you thought about doing the online EOI here....................
http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/work/workandlivepermanently/howdoiapply/expressionofinterest/
All you have to do is register and it will tell you exactly what points you and your partner qualify for as you work your way through the form. Then when you are ready to submit your paperwork online, you can, with much of the hardwork already done :nice1 . It takes a while to finish, but there isn't any time limit in which to complete it.
Hope this helps and good luck
John

I can only add to what the others have said, these company's have only one thing on their minds - your money! They will disillusion you, then offer to make some miraculous offer through extensive knowledge of the immigration process, thus getting you in when you could so easily have done the same thing yourself via the immigration website. If you have 115 points, which qualification did you put down? Is it the MSCE or A+ Microsoft certification, if that is the case they are internationally recognised and you will fly in!!
Check with NZ immigration, don't trust any immigration companies, know of too many people who have been stung. Don't be downhearted, you have a lot to offer.
Good luck - Steve :nice1

by employers ? Yes, by the NZIS, no.
But you should be able to claim points for both types of skill shortage. Get on a plane, you'll be hired in minutes, job offer will give you the points you need.
