Hello,

we are thinking about visiting the agricultural fielddays in Hamilton (14-16.6.). My husband is an agricultural/environmental engineer/scientist and wants to look for a job there. Has anyone been there and knows if this idea makes any sense?

Well, it doesn't look like anyone has been recently... I went to the Fieldays once, 10 years ago or so. From memory, it's mainly businesses displaying and trying to sell their agricultural products. (I assume you've already seen the website http://www.fieldays.co.nz/ ). Farmers go along to see what's new in fencing wire or whatever this year. You might make contacts with companies there perhaps, but I'm not sure that it's really an "employment" thing. But go along anyway, you'll probably enjoy it.

As the previous reply says, the fielddays are really a tradeshow for the farming community. So it’s mainly sales/marketing people from the companies.

Having said that, they’re good fun and interesting, so go along and enjoy. They are quite large, so you should be able to at least identify companies that your husband could potentially work for.

Thank you!

We received a joboffer yesterday and I really hope I don't have to go there, making this interesting polite face ...'What a nice tractor! Such a wonderful plough...' :laugh
