:( Well just a quick email to basically update and warn others of this potential pitfall....We submitted our ITA back in march and supplied the job offer and contract as requested, the job being for a joiner employed by basically a sole trader (employs just a couple of other trades people). We have received a letter from our case officer saying that the job is not acceptable as they feel as a sole trader he cannot provide adequate evidence of his profession (??????) or his financial stability, so we have 1 month to comment or make any changes to our application. They have deducted the points and therefore unless we can find another job in 1 month then we will be rejected (joy). So just beware if you get offered a job by a sole trader!

We have made contact with an agency who feels they should be able to source a job offer so fingers crossed, (and eyes and toes!!!!)
Cheers

lordy ... jayne what a nightmare !!

We kind of had this - MY brother (a sole trader ) had offered DH a job - we did not actually need it - just thought it would help - WRONG !!! what a mess , they wanted evidence of all my brothers business etc & a signed declaration from his accountant stating that the business could support an additional employee . After sponsoring us & doing all the other paperwork I did not want to place my brother under more stress & withdrew my husbands job offer !!

Fine for us under family category - but what a pain otherwise .

best wishes for future sucess

Jane
Sorry to hear your news. I don't want to teach granny to suck eggs and all that but have you also looked on the job agencies yourself, rather than leave it to the agency?

are just a couple if it helps.

Good luck.

Oh Jane, that is really awful. And yes, thanks for taking the time to point this out to others. In fact, this throws up a few potential probs for a plan we were hatching to enable my bro to join us  .

I really hope you manage to sort something out soon.

Hi Jane,
I hope your potential job comes through. Where are you headed? I know that the Bay of Plenty Times is forever advertising jobs for joiners, carpenters etc and we even get mailed by the Bay of Plenty Development Agency with urgent requests for such things. Please PM me if any further info on that is of any use and I will give you their contact details.
All the best,
Gil
