Just thinking it might be useful to have a thread where those already out in NZ could compare or just post prices of major household expenditure ie rates/insurance/car running costs/light and heating costs, just so those at very early stages can make some informed judgements about what incomes we will need to live on.

For instance I have read on various posts that car insurance is very cheap compared to UK but electricity is expensive

I think if you do a search you will find that some comparisons have been made already. But a lot of us here try to post prices of stuff when we think of it.

Do you already have job offers?, or wil you be coming over and then looking?. It is not always a good idea to compare NZ prices to UK, cause you will be earning dollars not pounds. :eek
