This is embarrassing! I just cant manage to fit a side entry plug! Just about to chuck it through the window! Every time I put the wire in and screw it down it comes out. Any suggestions please and what am I doing wrong?

Give up and use the rear entry ones, I mean it.... :D

Hubby is pretty good with fiddly electronics but he loses the plot every time he comes across a side entry one..., language is terrible... ;)

I bought a load when we first got over here. After 20 minutes I gave up as I had no confidence that the wires would stay in place. I took them back and got rear entry ones instead.

The trouble with those is that they stick out too far so I have gone back to the side entry ones and just strip off a reasonable amount of insulation then double over the wire. That seems to work.

I just home that no-one pulls the cable too hard :o

We've persevered with side entry ones. I struggled at first big time but I do as Richard suggests and strip the insulation back. I can do them reasonably quickly now.

I really dislike the rear entry ones. They just don't feel safe or substantial to me and stick out so far from the socket. :(

I had to read to the end of this thread because I was unsure what you were talking about! What are side entry plugs? Rear entry?? I know they use different plugs in NZ but this is confusing me - explain please :)

And also the thread is filled with innuendo - oo er missus

Well it's gonna get worse then!

Non teckie speak, imagine Uk plugs as bottom entry and if you twisted the cable off centre, it would be side entry (but still bottom)

Rear entry plugs have the cable do just that. http://www.fourcorners.co.nz/new-zealand/infrastructure/ the pic at the bottom is rear entry.

Now i totally confuddled - side entry but still bottom??? I will have a look at Dick Smith's site, see if I can make head or tail of it all there...
