Does anyone have any experience of the company advertising in Destination New Zealand as having the cheapest freight rates, guaranteed. they advertise as Homepak removals with an 01708 prefix to phone number (wherever that is).
London>Auckland 20 ft. £1109 40ft. £1695 is just one of many examples.

Veronica. I dont know where they are as no addy given (& no website). Prices are for loading in LONDON and freight to port only. They do door to door for extra though. Someone else is looking into it a bit more as they are closer to needing a shipper than we are. Watch this space.

Hi there Timbo & Veronica
I've contacted the company - this is the quote they have sent me.
1 x 20ft sole use container = £3496.00
183 cubic feet of effects overspill = £588.00
Insurance is available a 2.5% of the destination replacement value of the
effects based on goods being professionally packed.
This quote is door to door and the basic customs charges.
My lowest quote so far is 3050.00 from White & Company. I haven't contacted Homepack to see if they will actually match the quote.
I think we'll stick with White & Co unless the self pack container service works out to be much cheaper.

Oops - didn't realise the pc was still logged in under PB's name.
Above posting was from me - not PB.
Sorry about that.

Well Diny, they say if looks too good to be true, then it probably is. There is a BIG difference between the figures quoted in the press and those quoted to you. Just goes to show why shopping around is worth the time and hassle.
Thanks for taking the trouble to find out. It is one more thing to have in mind when our time comes.

My nan used to say that it was 'a sprat to catch the mackerell' - never did quite understand that saying but I guess she meant ........ something to get you hooked.
You're right - it's worth shopping around and doing your homework.

Hi All
Sorry - been off forum due to work commitments for a while. We have received a great quote from Curtis Removals.
Sole use 20ft container £2,400.00
Sole use 40ft container £3,395.00
This is a door to door service from Kent to Christchurch. Marine insurance 3%. Their no. is 023 9265 0576. They are really good and are apparently part of White & Co. but always guarantee to be cheaper! I'm not sure how far north they go, as they are based around the Portsmouth area and come as far as London. Worth giving them a call.

Do my little mince pies deceive me, or is that really a difference of a grand (give or take) on a 20 ft container?

Hi Timbo
I know - there are such HUGE differences in the prices for the shipping companies. The guy from Curtis was excellent - he was telling me that since someone on uk2nz posted their details on that forum their business to date this year has doubled on the whole of last year. He said that they have gone mad. Some posters on the other site have recommended them as they received their stuff in good condition.
We're definitely going to give them a go.
Cheers Wiggles

Hey Wiggles, why not try and negotiate a further discount for plugging them on here.

Hi Timbo
:laugh They are so bloody busy already that they'll probably be cursing me let alone handing out discounts!
