We have decided to press that button and submitt our EOI.

We were wondering about time scales and what order we would need to get things done if we were selected. I can imagine some things will take longer than others.

My understanding is.......
Once a EOI is selected from the pool you then get a ITA.
You then have 4 months to do the following:

Take proof of ID and certificates to New Zealand House (UK)
Medicals - by approved doctor on NZIS site.
Police Check - read it takes 40 days in the UK.

When you have supplies all this information you get assigned a case worker who will arrange an interview.

We are planning visiting New Zealand in September for 3 weeks and are worried that being away at this time may affect our application. :p

What would you do? :roll

Thanks for all the usefull information everyone is giving us..it really helps :nice1

I would still go on my visit and I would make sure that NZIS has my email address and contact details when out of the country.

Visiting NZ is more likely to go for you than against you and besides, if you have enough points, you'll get selected quickly and should be able to submit your ITA before you go.

Oh and our police check only took a week - but they're valid for 6 months. Medicals are only valid for 3 months, so do the police check first. You don't have to take the proof of idea and certificates, you can post them in.

Good luck!

Police check is normally the one that will take the longest although it may depend on how busy your doctor is. I had the x-rays, saw a doctor and the results back within 10 days.

Do you have to make a trip to New Zealand House? All my documents were posted and the interview was over the phone (perhaps because we live in Jersey).

I would have thought they would be happy that you're making the trip to NZ and it would give you head start at the interview stage.

Do a forum search for 'immigration process' and you'll find a post by 'Juniper'

Have a read of that.........priceless IMHO......it will explain a lot.
