Hello all,

Do you know on what basis NZIS waves interview for some PR applicants, while asks others to pass an interview?
Does a job offer makes it more likely to have interview waved?

I've never heard of anyone having an interview waived, saying that, it depends on which category your going for, I went the partnership route and didn't have an interview. I'm fairly certain if you're going skilled migrant, they will want an interview.

I agree with Dawn, I too got PR through the partnership/family category and never had an interview.

I'm pretty sure that all other 'routes' do require an interview though.

I think if you have a job offer they don't interview you (in the skilled migrant path) because the interview is largely about your ability to settle successfully and find work.

please correct anyone!

Tigerlily we had a phone interview. The NZIS guy said it was formality though because we had applied for PR via SM path and then got a job offer.

Alis; do you mean a face to face interview or telephone one?

We never had interviews, we had to get jobs to get PR (we were already here), once we had job offer we got our PR and at no point was an interview mentioned....

Well, I am applying SM path. Got job offer when submitted ITA. I mean any sort of interview, face to face, TF or web cam.
It is good news that you all mentioned there have been many cases in which interview was waved, because I need to travel long way for interview, worst is that it will add several weeks to processing time. I need to appear in my work place ASAP.
Thanks for all replies.

Usually a telephone interview so don't worry about travelling to a NZ immigration office.

I think Tigerlilly is correct in the aspect that the interview is to assess your ability to settle. We were already living and working here, so we did not have an interview.

We had job offer after submitting ITA from USA. No interview.
