Just thought you may like to know of some good news sites on the net for NZ, http://tvnz.co.nz/view/page/425823/712401 reported todays budget and why so many Kiwis move to Australia. Its a shame this govt seems to have a similar mentality to the labour govt of the UK - brother and sister ? Anyway, another good site is www.nzherald.co.nz www.stuff.co.nz and the northern advocate for northland http://www.northernadvocate.co.nz/
Just thought it may be helpfull to keep up to date with NZ's economy etc.
By the way - should be able to give an update on our PR soon, the results are back apparently about my wifes diabetes and if they think she will be a burden to the system. We have made up our minds that if it is a knock back we will be going back to the UK without a fight.
Speak to you all soon

Lets hope it doesn't come to that mucker.I'll miss our little chats.Remember 400 a week moving out (and that's just the ones crossing the Tazzy) can't be wrong.

Haven't looked into it but out of interest I would love to know how many people are leaving the UK on a weekly basis. :roll
No county is right for everyone, we all have to look at what we want from life and strive to achieve it for our own families. I know we certainly aren’t getting what we want from the UK, we just hope NZ will give us that little bit more. (For us as a family)

"In 2004 the number of British citizens migrating abroad continued to increase leading to a record net out-migration estimate of 120,000. There was also a record estimate of 342,000 for the net in-migration of non-British citizen"
http://www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=260
So doing the maths.... 8885 per week.

Yeah, apparently you can gain around $1500 a year on the NZ "average" wage which means you can afford to run your air conditioning and pay for the flights back across the Tazzy to rellies each year :D . Sorry, being flippant, but quite honestly, if those 400 are happier in Oz than they are in NZ then who wants to make them stay here?!! Go.. please!

Oh and just to be totally pedantic.... If you did the math on a statistical basis New Zealand would lose 5888 (ish) per week. A lot less than the UK!
I’m bored and playing with my calculator. What else to do on a raining summer day! :roll
