I've had a phone call from NZ this morning and ... I've been offered a job in Auckland!!! :yes :D

I should get the contract beginning of next week. Now its dawned on me how much I need to get sorted before I leave ... sell house / car, set up bank accounts etc...

Has anyone put together a "To Do" list or seen one on any websites, which I might be able to use so I don't forget silly little things like ... cancelling the newspaper etc...

Originally I was going for Perminant Residence, but as this might take a few months, I might get a Work Visa and then apply in NZ for the PR.

Does anyone know whether you need medical & police checks for a Work Visa??

For all of you that are still searching ... Yes you can get a job whilst still in the UK and without currently having PR or a work visa - Good luck in your searches.

Any other tips on what to pack / sell etc... be free to let me know!

Hi Sarah

Congrats on the job offer. :raebanana:raebanana:raebanana

Juniper has a good thread called a walk through the immigration process and Gil (I think) had a good tips thread.

There are threads about what and what not to bring too, have a look on advanced search at the top of this page. It depends a great deal on whether your stuff is sentimental and you don't want to part with it, or if you are happy to start again and have the money to do so.

Things to do before you leave
Inform banks, utility, Inland revenue, child benefit office, etc. I'm sure there are more. :D You can get a post restante address here so that you have an addy to give to people.

Congratulations on the job offer, you must be over the moon.

As far as child benefit is concerned (not that I get it or any other benefit, come to that, but anyway) have a look at a new thread posted by Bubbles.

Fascinating........
