Hey

We are getting ready to get all the ITA done and plan to take it down to London... I am sure I read somewhere that if you take all your original documents and copies that they will check them then and there and give you the originals back ...can't seem to find it though!!! Could someone just confirm that this is the case for us

They do for some people - I think if you make it clear you need them back straight away then they will - we just needed my (now) wife's passport back straight away, so she just stamped the photocopy "original seen" and gave it us back. They kept all the other stuff, but as we didn't need it straight away, we were more than happy to leave it there.

Yes they did for us.

OH took it all and copies to NZ House, they checked everything against the originals and gave them back to him there and then. Took 20 mins. :raebanana

Thanks!!! ... I knew I had read it somewhere so that is great ... think it will cost less in train fares to go down and get it done than to get certified copies of stuff we don't want to leave with them!!!!

Have you rung around to price up for certified copies?

I rang yesterday to a solicitor, said normally £10 per copy but told him what we would have - 5 passports, 5 birth certificates, marriage certificate, P60's, and he said he would do them for £30.

may be worth a couple of phone calls?!

Hi ... yes we started off ringing actual Notaries but they have astronomical charges! and so we decided to ring round for solicitors and found someone who will do it for 5 pounds (bought this laptop in USA and still can't find the pound sign!!!!) which is good for some copies but we have stuff going off to NZQA and the ITA and also Teacher Registration so even that would add up to a fair amount so working on the principle if we can do the ITA without any that might save a bit .... its all these so called little things of a fiver here and this there and so we are trying to budget a bit ... mind you about to blow about 800 on the medicals for the 4 of us so :wah
