Anyone had recent shipping quotes? We moving Yorkshire to Wellington fairly soon and am interested in costs/experiences...

I guess going to Welli will make a difference in the NZ end as most people go to Auckland?

We recently moved from Yorkshire to wellington and used Britannia (in Hull). We shipped 150 cu ft groupage and the cost was £1000 give or take a few pounds. This was including delivery to our home in Wellington. It took a fair few weeks to arrive, but everything went smoothly and everything arrived!

NZ Van Lines did this end, and although many people have had pretty bad experiences with them, they were fine. Must have got their act together!

For insurance, you really can't beat Letton Percival in Liverpool. Many people on this forum have used them and been really happy. They are usually half the price of your shipper!

Hi,
We just moved from the U.S. (California) to Christchurch-- so I can't tell you much re: quotes but I did use a website I found very helpful (and would be for anyone moving international) called

www.movingscam.com

It gives lots of tips on how to find a reputable company, how to get quotes
(cu ft v weight), and lots of other helpful tips.

The biggest thing I found was to make sure that if you find someone over the internet that you make sure they have a physical address, and have someone come to your home and do an estimate so it is accuratne and that they can be held to it.
