Hi, Me and my family moving to nelson soon, I was wondering if anyone knows of any craft shops locally selling materials for scrapbooking and card making?
Not sure if its a very popular hobby in N.Z yet,

thanks !

Hi ,

Most large warehouses have an aisle devoted to crafting - dont ask me whats in it though as its not my cup of tea ;) . The warehouse seems to be EVERYWHERE so I dont suppose nelson will be short of a few .

yes scrapbooking is known in NZ, StevieD's wife Jan is a scrapbooker and got me hooked too :nice1

I am not allowed to take my stuff with me so my daughter has ended up with all my stuff........so I will be heading out to get new supplies when I have a house!

Found a fantastic shop in Christchurch (Colombo street) yesterday. Crammed full of fabrics, crafts, crafts for kids, wools etc...... Its called Spotlight, www.spotlight.co.nz and they do seem to have a store in Nelson.

Mark and Heather - Welcome to the forum!! Yes, scrapbooking is huge down there, so my OH tells me and other members on here.
She can't wait to get down there and looking for "stash" of the NZ variety. :laugh

Have you been on UK Scrappers website? www.ukscrappers.co.uk

There are Spotlights all over and they are crammed full of craft stuff and very busy everytime I've been in one.

Does that mean this forum has enough for a team on Scrapbook Challenge?

And no I'm not taking responsiblity for the above. :laugh:laugh

Debs - that was very good of you to 'volunteer' for a scrap challenge ;)

Don't blame you for not taking responsibility, it could turn out to be a nightmare!

Yep I'd be useless. I don't mind looking after all the brightly coloured, sparkly bits though, magpie that I am.

Last time I was allowed near the Araldite multigrip stuff without a grownup, I glued my fingertips together. :uhoh

OH had to use a scalpel to cut them apart. I'm not sure who was more petrified but he only slipped once. :o

thanks for the help, will i actually be allowed to bring my scrapbooking stash with me, (card and printed papers etc)
Is there likely to be any restrictions from customs on what I can and can't bring?
:
confused: I have a dresser full of card and papers, would be sad to leave them behind, have big plans for them in the future, when me and my digi-camera get to nelson.

I've just got my 8yr old daughter addicted to scrapbooking as well, so hope the shops everyone mentioned are ready for us! :raebanana
