Hello,
Am living in Auckland and am awaiting my application forms for residence. I have already been accpeted to apply!
I have all my paper work ready to go(have been here before but made an error on my last application).
My visa is up in August 16 - any ideas on what I should do if no decision made on visa? How long could it take?
Any thoughts would be greatly accepted.

Janice,

You should go to NZIS and get a work permit. It will cost you $120 NZ but it is worth it. If your Visa hits the expiry before your PR comes through you will have issues. You don't want to overstay because it will hurt your chance for PR.

You could also request an extension on your Visa, I am assuming its a Visitor Visa. You can even request the extension online.

Someone at my work from Auckland is trying to get PR right now and its been 3 months since she submitted her ITA. Not a fast process up there in Auckland.

Best of Luck!

Jonathon

I just submitted mine (PR and Work together- in ChCh) and I got the work permit that same day. On PR they said don't expect it until the end of the year. :(
But I am going to extend my visitor's visa (hopefully for another 6 mo) if it doesn't come through...
hope that helps
