Our plan was to get the visa, then sell the house.... then go.
So far though, that plan has taken over a year with getting the visa (8 months) and selling the house (5 months so far).
I've hatched a plan to go anyway (probably September) - subject to getting a job regardless of selling the house. It will mean we have to rent a place until we sell the house....
I just want to get in the driving seat for once. We're fed up waiting on events to occur.
Anyone else been in this position ????

We were kept waiting by house sale in the UK, in the end we just said 'sod it' and made our way over here. Slightly different situation for us as hubby has remained in the same job (just has a different/longer commute). The house sold in the end and we were able to settle abit easier here.
Almost a year down the line, 2 houses under our belt, starting to put down some good strong roots and make some good mates, I think we're glad we 'just did it'.
All the best.

Hi. I sort of said 'sod it'. :) Hubby is a Kiwi but I applied for my residency when we got here. It might not have taken very long to get it before we came but I just didn't want to wait any longer - very impatient person I am :laugh It all worked out wonderfully too :raebanana

sometimes you just have to take a chance!

If you have trouble selling the house (i.e. not getting serious pffer or buyers messing you around), you don't need the money from the house sale to get out to NZ, and you have family in the UK who can keep an eye on things you may want to consider renting out your house.
This will give you the chance to get back to the UK if you decide NZ is not for you.
Rgds.,
Nick.
