Hi,
Gr8 response. I am in same boat. I have my letter of appointment and a certificate of experience from my previous employer (for period Nov 1981 to Aug 1984). The company closed down some time in 1989.
How will NZIS check the documents? Any ideas would be of great help :yes

Hi,
I had a similar problem, wrote to my employer ( it had to be the HR department) and asked for verification mentioned in ITA and they were very less than helpful!
In the meantime, so it would not hold things up, I spoke to my case officer and she said payslips and pension contribution proof would be ok - as I didn't have 10 years worth ( only 4) I supplied 2 payslips from each years april and sept and my case officer said this would be okay pending the verification from my employer and would notify me if they needed something else.
If your employer is reluctant, as mine was, just badger them they really can't refuse. If they're not around anymore NI and tax office should have records of all employment and contributions etc. and you could contact your pension scheme.
Time consuming I know so speak to your case officer they may be able to compromise in the interim.
I don't know whether your work reference could help I know my boss did put to my next employer how many years I had been in my job etc maybe you could get a copy of that?

Thanks for the timely advice Linda, I have tried ot locate my previos emplyoer but failed. It's been about 20 long years now. I have forwarded my appointment letter and experience certificate (issued soon after I left the job) to the case officer but there has been no communication from NZIS yet. :hopeso
Thanks again and regards

Sanjiv,
I know now after probs with NZIS back in april that it does help to speak or email your case officer and then they can give you it from the horses mouth so to speak. Mine is lovely and I do tend to ring her and voice any querries. you are a person to them then and not just a paperchase.
love linda xx

Hi Sanjiv,
Just curious, was your employment held in India? How does the "comparable market" thing afftects you?

Hi Jhsay,
Yes my experience has been in India only. My application was filed under old General Skills Category (GSC) way back in Aug 02. NZIS did not have these restrictions then.
I hope they do not make it applicable retrospectively. :hopeso
