Last week I bought some flannelette sheets as getting into bed with cold cotton sheets was awful .
They make such a difference :nice1
Anyone else with little ideas that make a big difference ........

- Dip a damp cloth into the light-coloured ashes in the woodburner/stove to clean the glass window of soot etc. - works better than Mr Muscle
and...
- We bought a dual control leccy blanket so we can roast at our own pace, no more fighting over the temp control ;)

Buy timers ($5 from MItre 10) so the heater can come on at the coldest part of the night.
Put washable rugs on floor in winter, saves your little tootsies on the cold kitchen tiles...
Oh and always make sure there are chilled alcoholic beverages in the fridge :)

Always buy a hefty newspaper at the weekend. You can use it to cover up all your empties in the recycling bin the following week!

I use the paper to start the fire for the rest of the week (if it goes out :D)
Kate
Are you not taking your, ehm, empties to the recycling place in Darfield?:p

To open that stuck jar lid, turn the jar upside down into a couple of inches of realy hot/ boiling water for a min. Open with a tea towel as the lid will be hot.
I could go into the science of it but it's boring.
Forget all those great spelling rhymes they told you at school, they don't work.' i before e except after c', what about science. They just do it to taunt us dyslexics.
I like this one best though.

Stay warm with wool socks and silk long underwear....its a thin, longsleeve t-shirt and long pants made of silk that you wear under your clothes.

Throw a couple of handfuls of coal into the wood burner when you first light it, this get the temp a little higher and really gets the wood burner going quick. (One bag of coal last for weeks and weeks)
When the BBQ plates look tired and dirty, rub them down with a wire brush. Paint them in cooking oil and bake them (I guess that’s just like seasoning a cast skillet, but if like me you’re a BBQ novice you need to learn these things)
When you need some English Marmite go to new world, they sell it there under the trade name “our mate” took me weeks to discover that!
