Just like to share the joy with you all. Yes, we've got NZ PR. Thank you all for the precious advice, help & encouragement during the whole process.

Having just gone through the interview, just like to share some bits of it :

We were at the interview for almost an hour. The case officer typed in all our responses into her laptop on the spot. The first part of the interview was focused on my hubby (main applicant). He was asked to give specific names of companies that are dealing in his line of job, name of recruiters & responses, contacts details if any. Basically, it seems that the Visa Officer wanted a good gauge of how much research & effort we've put in to find out about the job market in NZ. And yes, she asked the classic 'Obstacles & Hindrances' question in regards to my hubby job.

Next, she focused on me. My plans & intentions when I arrived in NZ. Shared with her on some research I did on being qualified for Chartered Accountant in NZ. And about personal migrant friends in NZ who are accountant & the difficulties that they faced when looking for a job.

Lastly, she spoke to us as a couple, on our short term & long term plans. How much we know NZ. They were concerned with people who come with the intention of getting permanent PR by fulfilling 2 years residency & then heading back to their home country.

I prepared a folder which the case officer eagerly accepted & kept for further reference. In there, I filed my resume, work testimonials, photos of friends in NZ, contact list of friends in NZ (for character reference if Immigration deems necessary), map of places we visited in our trips to NZ, correspondence letters with friends in NZ, schedule of monthly household budget worksheet & some other schedules & info that I gathered on living in NZ.

It may seem that we were doing a bit too much to demonstrate our ability to settle down & contribute but with 3 kids in tow, we were trying our best to get the PR, instead of WTR.

Hope the above can be of some use to those who are going for the interview.

Cheers,
Ling Ling

Oh, before I forget, for our case, it didn't help to keep checking the status in the NZ Immigration website after the interview. It just kept showing 'Pending' even though it was subsequently Approved in Principle. The approval letter came in the mail instead. Perhaps the status will change only when we pay up the Migrant Levy.

Excellent, Ling Ling and family!
And I don't blame you for thorough preparation. What's that military saying? Train hard, fight easy. Or perhaps, in this case: prepare hard, PR easy!

As I've implied before, nobody should have to slump in exhaustion at their desk doing over-preparation, but a few hours and a bit of intelligent research can go a long way! :nice1

Well done again! :clap
