LAY IT OUT HERE : Dates selected, points, status etc

Let's get down to brass tacks. I've been waiting (it feels like) forever for an ITA. I want to try and identify all the possible reasons for this time delay. Use this thread to post that which may be relevant. I can think of the following in my case...

Current Status : EOI Selected from pool
EOI Selected : August 18th
ITA Arrived : ????
PR granted : ????
Want to be in NZ : c Easter 2005
Number of Points : 115
Job Offer : No
Claiming points for : Age, qualifications, work experience, POL
Location : Scotland
Surname starts with a : T
Unusual circumstances : None
Ever say anything bad about the All Blacks?:
Well just that time in 1990 when Grant Fox kicked a disputed penalty in injury time to deny Scotland an historic victory.

Our medicals and x-rays are done, Police Certificates obtained, letters from previous employers all sitting nicely. Everything has been copied, certified and bundled together; poised, if you will, for that wonderous day when the house echoes to the thud of an ITA package. But still we wait.

How about you? How many points? When did your ITA arrive? List the pertinent facts here.[/u]

Thanks to everyone for following suite in the layout, it really helps with the comparisons.

In early August, the SMC passmark was dropped dramatically. In doing so, the floodgates were opened - particularly for those of us with no job offer. By referencing the most excellent link by AliJax in his "Came across this" thread, we can start to see what is going on.

It is only around now, that the vast majority of No Job Offer people, can expect to receive their ITA. (Prior to Aug 4th, most people would have needed a job offer to reach the SMC passmark). It is clear that those with job offers have, quite properly, been processed first - the rest of us are only now starting to get a look in. But, we can take heart. The evidence suggests that due process is being followed. I must confess to suffering from acute paranoia and feelings of "have I been overlooked", "what is wrong with my application" etc. That's why, I started this thread.

I am filled with renewed optimism and patience.

Now, what we all want to know is, how long from sending off your ITA to the PR visa? What further hoops will we have to jump through? Interviews for everyone?

Please keep posting, to highlight the timings of what, we hope, are the latter stages of the process.

EOI Submitted: December 2003!!

ITA Sent Back to NZIS: 19 Oct
Interview to assess suitability to get PR: 9 Nov
PR granted: not yet but we're gonna take a punt and book those tickets

Number of Points: 120 (but more under the new rules from December)
Job Offer: no
Claiming points for: qualifications, work experience, partner's qualifications and age
Occupation: publishing or teaching
Current Location: London
Unusual circumstances: aren't everybody's?

Had an interview to assess our suitability for residency yesterday, which they are doing for everyone without job offers. I went to NZ House in person because I work round the corner, but they will do most of these by phone. It's straightforward, just questions about what you intend to do when you get to NZ, how you are going to find a job, whether you have any family or contacts out there, etc. Nothing to worry about. Lovely case officer was very helpful.

We seem to be rattling through the system ok. Point to note is that I made our initial EOI back in December 2003 and was thus one of the very earliest to apply. It's a possible clue in unravelling the mysteries of NZIS - perhaps they're now processing things in order of date of application other than those with priority job offers?

Just waiting for the paperwork to be finished.

Is it a good idea to send your passport with your ITA or do they ask it at a later stage ?

lynden
12th November 2004, 07:01 AM
HI
IF YOU SEND YOUR PASSPORT AND PAYMENT DETAILS FOR THE MIGRANT LEVY WHEN YOU SEND OF YOUR ITA, IT SAVES TIME AS YOU GET YOUR VISAS STRAIGHT AWAY IF APPROVED,,IF NOT YOU GET APPROVED IN PRINCIPAL AND HAVE TO SEND PASSPORTS AND PAYMENT IN AND THEN WAIT FOR RETURN.ALL EXTRA POSTING AND ADMIN TAKES TIME.

HOPE THIS HELPS :nice1

This is a question for Daniel Park and the rest who already had an interview w/ no JO. Does the case officer asked how will you support yourself when you land in NZ? The point is that, we are thinking of submitting our ITA along with bank statements to support this. Any thoughts?

Daniel Park
15th November 2004, 08:11 PM
Hi Arlevien,

No direct questions about how we would support ourselves, though I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to mention your financial circumstances & anything else you feel is relevant. I asked whether I needed to bring any supporting documents and that wasn't necessary. Pretty straightforward, really.

Don't worry about it!

Not sure they will accept docs sent with ITA that aren't specifically asked for - i.e. bank statements.

Or do they ask for bank statements?!

The case and point about those bank statements is so we can provide proof of financial source for our living expences as we do not have a Job offer.
According to the Application for Residence quide that was included in the ITA package under the Second Tier Assesment, the factors that will be considered are:

- employment prospects
- familiarity with NZ and prepareness for settlement
- linkages and support in NZ

so basing the second item, we thought of showing our preparedness is our capability to support ourselves as we initially settle.

I also called up the NZ case officer handling our case and she mentioned that there is no problem providing additional documents which are not listed as long as you provide reason as to why you have to include it.

Want to be in New Zealand: January 2005...and we will be
Number of Points: 160
Job Offer: Yes
Claiming Points for: Age, qualifications, work experience & job offer
Location: Devon, England
Unusual Circumstances: Yep...............

Had to drop points from our original EOI for qualifications as it was going to take too long to get full assessment and we wanted to get our kids to start school at beginning of new school year in NZ which starts at end Jan. Didn't know we could drop points until speaking to our case officer who suggested it, so points went down to 105 from our original 160.
Also interesting point when case officer rang today to say our application was approved and PR granted she also added that there is a backlog of the stamping of PR's on passports so we would not receive them until at least 4 weeks time. I asked if we were safe to book flights for 31 Dec and she said yes....just said that if we didn't receive passports by mid Dec to call her and she would sort so we had them in time. I have to say she couldn't have been more helpful....and she's a Newzealaner!

So flights are booked....it's going to be a hectic New Year for us....

hello sarah. Congratulations :nice1

I understand you had your points decreased from 160 to 105. Does this mean that you did not submit any document to the qualifications you once wanted to claim points for?

You see, I hold another degree and I didnt claim any points for this because it has to be recognised first and that would take time. But I stated that in my EOI.

Do you think they would still require me to pass documents relating to this?

thanks for your help.

Hi Cathy

No we didn't submit docs for qualifications as basically they didn't mean anything to immigration without first having full assessment even though we had pre assessment done which showed they were high enough to claim points for which is why we didn't realise you had to have full one done.....seems practically a waste of time having pre assessment done really. I believe there's a limit on the amount of points you can claim for quals so whether you've got 1 or 4 it won't get you more points. Just need to prove that any of your quals are high enough to give you the points.

i already had my status changed to decision successful and is already waiting for my ITA. I was just worried that they would ask me for the documents of my other degree, which I still dont have and may even take time to get.

I dont want my application delayed just because of some documents that I did not even claim points for

Ever say anything bad about the All Blacks: on the contrary! 20 years ago, our Maori, rugby-playing, visiting teacher was the only one who miraculously hoiked me up to halfway up my class's rankings in Biology (I was usually propping up the others!) FULL DISCLOSURE: yes, ha ha, it was also Human Biology year that year, but that's always a half-hearted joke 'cos the way it's taught in schools is not exactly redolent of jumping into a hot tub with half a dozen SoCal cheerleaders and a cooler of chilled Guinness, is it? Is it? (Is it?) :uhoh

We're finding this forum very friendly and helpful. Thanks, all! All the best!
