Just moved to Levin and staying with father in law. No sky and world cup nearly upon us.HELP!!
Where can we watch the live England games (sorry, i can watch, wife not really that intrested) when they will be shown in the earlier hours of the morning. I dont imagine they will be many bars staying open to show them ?????
Is there a sport radio station which will be covering the games?
Any help would be appriciated!
Thanks
Stuart

NZ Sky have the right to all 64 matches (which isnt much use to you).
However TVNZ will be showing The final/both semi-finals/2 of the quarter-finals/4 of the round of 16 games and the opening Germany v Costa rica game)
Not ideal but hopefully a help for you............

HAve a look at the TVNZ webpage, it should give you all the info you need, and I bet the England games will feature quite heavily in their schedule!
Say hi to gwen for us :)

Doesn't really give much help on live games as the list hasn't been finalised, but take a look.

Andy mentioned the games will be on ESPN channel - is this SKY also? Just bought him a magazine with World Cup feature within (it's called 'NZ's leading all sports PLAYER). It's the kind of thing you'd buy in the UK with all the teams / groupings / games locations and NZ timings. Maybe something for some of you?
As usual, we'll be having the UK / Holland conflict of interest . . . if we end up playing each other!

If there's a sports bar in Levin you might find its open all night for the games - certainly I'd expect the sports bar in Welly to be open all night (although you might not have a very happy wife if you spend the whole world cup in a sports bar!!) Otherwise, make friends with the neighbours who have SKY!
Otherwise - surely there must be access via the internet to these games? I'm sure I remember the last world cup being beamed through the internet (or am I imagning it?)

But only if you have Sky Digital. The 'arial' Sky does not cover all the games. Only one or two a month

thanks for that :)
those prices are not too bad at all compared to british sky, which we stopped because it just did'nt seem worthwhile. i think skyworld ( most of the channels including sport and films ) is now around £43, which at todays exchange rates is the equivalent of around $125 a month.
I gather these prices are through a satellite dish. Can you also get it through a digi-box with no dish ?

Dont forget - you'llbe earning NZ$ not UK pounds so one cant compare (unless you're earning £££££s that is)
No where near as many channels but still lots of the brown stuff...............

No is the short answer - they charge you $199 (price does change sometimes) to instal dish and digibox
I'm gonna miss my Irish Sky Digibox (got it registered in Ireland so I could get 4 Irish Channels offering more than UK version) - NO more Andy Gray/Martin Tyler, Stargate (well recent series anyway) , Battlestar Gallactica, Sky Sports News, Soccer AM, Gaelic Football etc etc
Boo-hoo......................... :no :( :uhoh

We recently signed up with Sky for $49 installation etc and 2 months free everything.
WooHoo - never had Sky before.
We're now slimming down to basic package + Sports + Rugby. Bliss!
Baboonworld - we're 1/2 hr away in Waikanae and could easily accommodate a fellow Pom for a game or 2 if you bring beer!

You're right Sarah (as far as I can see). As a Sky subscriber you can access the games on broadband. I didn't know you could do this until OH told me his daughter does it.
