We have now recieved two quotes from shippers, from PSS and Anglo Pacific. Has anyone got any experience with either of these companies ?
Both seemed very good and were thorough, in fact there was little to distinguish between the two, except price, with PSS being a bit cheaper.
Any advice on these two would be very helpful
thanks

I've read on another forum one serious problems with Anglo Pacific with regards to packing up car with household and serious serious serious damage through damp and mould and problems with compensation. Of course, everyone has a different story but not sure about putting a link in for the story on that - its in the UK2NZ.co.uk forum and search anglo and mould and you'll find it. We don't have a full 20ft container (getting rid of a lot of rubbish) but got three quotes for our own container about 3/4 full - GB Liners (International Moving Company) at £3500, Crown £4000 and Brittania £3500 - all give or take a few pounds - they all visited to do evaluation and quotes. Our friends left from our town, Berwick to Nelson where we were going and chose to use Crown, not for the price (they were about £350/£400 more) but because they came across more professional, were more helpful and knew what they were talking about, and they have a depot in Nelson so no subcontracting. We found the same with our quoting - Steve Hall from Edinburgh office was so much more on the ball and really easy to talk to - I of course have a thousand questions. After discussions about price Crown offered a goodwill reduction of £150 to take the price down to be competitive with the others and we have then on standby for August. Haven't heard anything about PSS but good luck with it all.

The guy from Anglo Pacific says that PSS will always undercut the opposition. He never had anything bad to say about them either. We have about 500sq ft of stuff ( we can flat pack a lot of it ) and PSS quoted £2200 compared with Anglo Pacific at £2600 ish. I wonder what PSS would quote for your 3/4 container ?

No real experience yet - but the dealings I have had with John Masons so far have been great. We had a quote back in Feb which was £2800 for a 20ft container and here we are in June and when my wife spoke with John Masons last week they are still happy to quote us £2800 for a move in the next month or so!

We've had a good experience with GB liners (see other threads on similar subject), and The Moving Company at this end. No issues. It's a difficult decision to make, but once made will be a huge load of your mind.

Ours was just over a year ago (March 2005). We used PSS and we can recommend them. They were very professional and packed everything really well.
The advice we got from this ends removal men were to try avoid using a shared container unless really necessary. He said time and time again he saw boxes go missing, things broken. Where as with a 20ft/40ft container of your own it's sealed at your property and the seal should only be broken once it reaches your property in NZ.
Another thing to watch is the removal men this end. Quite a few near misses, washing machine nearly dropped, a lot of our furniture is solid wood so very heavy. The guys underestimated how heavy the stuff was and didn't believe me when I said it was heavy. Luckily nothing broken or dented though :nice1

We used PSS in March this year and have nothing bad to say about them. They were professional, helpful, polite, efficient. We were then passed on to NZ Vanlines at this end (Auckland). Despite concerns following alot of bad press (deserved in those cases) on this and other forums, we have had nothing but good, polite, friendly, efficient service from them. We had one breakage amongst a 20' crate of effects - just a crack in the glass front of a picture which will be replaceable.

Hi all,
Can't say what will happen when it reaches NZ, but what I've just witnessed Britannia do to the contents of my house over the last 2 days was incredible.
Absolutely nothing was too much trouble. All very professional and to a very high standard of wrapping, packing and tidying up after themselves. What a great gang of lads. :nice1
There was only one thing wrong, and that was ' Alberto ' from Milan on the team. I think the wife quite liked him. Italians. :laugh :laugh :laugh
Seriously though, I am over the moon with their service.
