We were recently told that it was possible to share containers with other families when shipping your goods to NZ- company called Robinsons i think!!! There is only the two of us and we have got rid of some of our stuff so therefore do not have that much to take. Has anyone shared a container with someone else? What were you quoted and for what size container?

I too would love to share a container - any time from August - November... any US experiences out there?
We're packing it all up for a move within the US in the next couple weeks. We're getting a little container for that (5' x 7' x 8').

Someone on the website advertised that they wanted to share and I PM'd them. They had more things than I did, so they were aranging it and I agreed to chip in.
It may be that you guys can get together and share the costs :D

Yes, but there aren't many of them, so it's not a problem at all.

We have a 250 Cubic over and above the 20ft container that we will fill. 3 companies have said that to send the remainder groupage (shared contanier) it will be around £8 - 900 - it was an extra £2K for a 40 ft container.
Hope that helps.

That's got me thinking! We've got a piano, a chest of drawers, two pushbikes and probably about 4sqm of books, photos, music and children's toys that we're pondering our options about. The rest is destined for ebay, freecycle, friends or the charity shop.
Oh, and 2 violas, 1 violin and 3 child size violins.
We're planning to head out in November.

I should point out that we only have a 3 bed semi and we are still over the 20ft container threshold by another quarter.

Anyone in the US looking to share a container? We've cleared out most of our stuff but have some things we'd rather not get rid of - books, some furniture, hubby's weight set, etc. Too big to mail, not enough for a container and we'd rather not drop a bundle on shipping so I like this idea.
PM me if so and maybe we can work something out.

Hi
We've got a couple of cubic metres to get from the Uk to NZ, anyone want to rent some space in their container.
regards
James
