We are hoping to purchase a 4x4 in NZ for a reasonable price. Anyone had any good experiences? Did anyone buy one through Autotrader? What are the better makes in NZ?

Thanks

You should get a bargain - most people are trying to offload them because of the price of petrol!!

We bought ours from Tory Motors in Welly city - there's lots of second-hand dealers selling Japanese imports.

Its pretty much halved in value over the last year & a half because of the petrol & part because of its age (Japanese imports tend to be around the 7 year old mark).

There is a large ownership of 4X4 in NZ - you shouldn't have any probs in finding one.

Really depends when you say 4X4 whether you're referring to a Rav 4 or a Pajero sized 7 seater vehicle as to what is popular in the bracket you're looking in. Popular in what I'd call the mid-sized are the Toyota HiLux, the Nissan Terrano & becoming very popular if you're looking for a newer car is the Ford Territory. We bought a Nissan Terrano & have been very pleased with it but will be going for a Ford Territory next time when we buy newer.

There is also Wholesale cars in Lower Hutt and other sites.

2 friends bought 4x4 there and got good deals. Something to do with the salesmen being salaried rather than commission.

Yes they're good - friends of ours have had 2 cars they've been really happy with from there.

and please, please, please make sure when you buy it does plenty of miles to the gallons, to protect the environment.
