Our case officer just phoned our home to tell us that we've got PR approval in principle! I wasn't there at the time he called but my wife answered and she kinda freaked out when she realised who it was and what he was saying! :)

He said we should get a letter soon which hopefully will explain what happens as unfortunately as my wife was freaked, she forgot to ask questions like "When does it become PR official rather than in principle" or "Does that mean we get our original docs back soon?" :) :) Nevermind I'm too happy to care as I'd imagine the letter will explain otherwise I'll call him back.

So many thanks to everyone on this forum for their help over the past year or so. This is an invaulable place and I hope to be able to help other people through the process in the future.

Cheers
Brendan & Isabelle

btw i can answer one of your questions....
"When does it become PR official rather than in principle"
When you pay your migrant levy. If you've already sent them your passports and credit card details etc for paying the levy then it only takes a couple of days. Otherwise you've got up to 6 months to pay it and send your passports in.

Congrats!!!!

Hi all,

Thanks ever so much to everyone and thanks again Trigirl for explaining the when the "in principle" becomes official. (thats another beer that we owe ye!) Yes we sent the migrant levy and our passports so I guess then it should be pretty quick.

I'm spending this weekend on writing a resignation....oh boy, its going to feel good sending that letter into our HR department! :) Then next stop is Wellington in Oct/Nov....wow I still can't believe it. I don't think it's really sunk in yet that we got it.

Oh and thanks for the nana's, here's a few more from us!
:raebanana :raebanana :raebanana

Thanks again.

Hi everyone, Mrs Starkhorn here...

I've been reading these pages for so long, it is about time I should introduce myself.
Thanks to everyone for the support and great advices over the months!
Thanks for the precise info, Trigirl! I can't believe I forgot to ask our case officer about return of documents and all, I was just completely speechless...
I didn't even dare asking him to repeat himself in case he'd think I had cheated to get a good IELTS result... Silly me! :o

Hi Claribel - welcome to the forums!

If all goes to plan we should be arriving in Wellington same sort of time as you guys.

Lots to do before then though!!!

Hi,

No we didn't have a job offer and we were equally surprised on how quickly it went. We did have 140 points in our EOI.

God I hope now he really was from NZIS and not a con artist trying to get personal information!! Yes I am that paranoid! :)

Cheers

You, paranoid? But why did you resign?
And who's number 1? ;)

Congratulations on your fast track!!! :=)
On the website of a migration agent I read that candidates with 140 points (and more) go the fast track. It seems to be true.

I read it at instant-immigration.
