Hi all,

We have got a reasonable deal on shipping our belongings through a consolidator, but our goods must be 'packed for export'. I would ideally like to use a pallet box or crate for this, does anyone know what the customs requirements are for wood treatment if we are using wooden crates?

Hi Mal,

Where are you coming from? I'm not sure if it varies by which country the shipment originates in, but my understanding is that wood is not allowed for shipments from the US anymore.

My Sister in Law came over in December 2005, and having arranged for a wooden crate, was told at the dock that the requirements had recently changed and she had to have everything put onto plastic pallets.

My husband and I brought over a less than full container load in Feb. and the shipping company just shrink wrapped everything together, instead of crating it, before putting it into the container.

I've actually managed to find the answer, which is that all wooden packaging must meet and be stamped for the ispm15 standard.
