Tax returns in NZ are due 7th July.
If you are voluntarily doing a tax return can it be submitted later than that? Reason I ask is that UK generated income (assuming it is not a loss that is!) won't be finalised for some time after 7th July.
On a separate issue
If a NZ tax refund is due due to working for only part of a year is the overpaid tax refunded automatically?
Cheers

You will need to request an extension, I think

I agree - you may have to ask for an extension. On the positive side - I have had to phone IRD fairly frequently in the last few weeks. Im finding the Tax Return quite tricky compared to the UK one (and id only just got the hang of that). I can say that they are really helpful and lovely to talk to. They seem more than happy to help you through the process.
As for refunds - my understanding is that this kinda differs for employed adn self employed. I know I should be getting one - and there is a spot on the form to ask for any refund to be direct credited to you - same as in the UK. So it should be automatic. And Last year - OH got a refund through pretty quickly ofr the same reason as you - only working part the year. Just make sure you give them bank details and tell them on the form you want a refund.
