Hi
Now we've got our ITA we managed to bring our medicals & xrays forward
(had medicals yesterday and xrays 5th Nov) and were delighted as we expected to be able to submit all by mid Nov easy. Since talking to our case officer over a query with the full assessment necessary for my husbands qualifications as we had the pre assessment putting him on level 5, we've discovered that we DO have to have a full assessment done as the pre is not enough. The following information is from the NZQA webiste...........
"How long does it take to evaluate my qualifications?
NZQA will process a 'standard' application within 20* working days. This means that:
within ten working days of the receipt of the completed application form, all required supporting documents and fees, NZQA will commence the verification process
within ten working days of the completion of the verification process (ie all information being received), NZQA will issue an Assessment Report.
*For reasons outside of NZQA's control, third party verification may cause this time to be extended, as NZQA is unable to affect the time it will take to obtain a response to verification requests."
And the cost of this is $450+ dollars. Another $150 to fast track it but that only cuts it by 10 working days, but then if they have trouble with the verification process who knows how long it might take......plus add postage times to NZ and back this will take at least 6 weeks.
So if your quals aren't on their recognised list be aware that you will need a full assessment and the pre assessment is only for your benefit knowing that you qualify for the 50 points. If we'd have known that we would have done it at the time of receiving the pre assessment.
This whole process takes you up 1 minute and down the next thats for sure......
