Hi all, I've emailed the NZNC but as yet no reply so I thought I'd pick your brains. Three questions:

1) The police check...would they want an enhanced disclosure (like when you apply for a nursing position here in the UK) or a subject access report under the data protection act (like when you apply for PR)?

2) I have to send a part of the form to the UK NMC to verify reistration, but it also asks for a copy of entry onto the NMC register to go with the form I send...is this one and the same?

3) Can I send the form now and then sort the NMC bit out when he qualifies in September (I'm trying to shuffle this through ASAP)?

Really grateful for any replies :)

And yes, this is for my husband :roll ; he hates form filling, but is making up for it by hoovering as I type...

Hi

The police check is a funny one sometimes they accept the disclosure and sometimes the one from a police station that takes 40 days to come back and costs £10, to be safe I would get that one.

The verification needs to come direct from the NMC

Yes you can submit documents in bits the main thing is that they get your application form and payment.

The Nursing Council are very busy so it can take 4 to 6 months to get your registration through from start to finish. Its also worth noting you have to be qualified for 3 months before you can get registration over here. Not sure when you are planning to arrive but I would try and get as much post grad experience as possible otherwise you will be competing with new grads here for places.

My job invlolves working with nurses, finding jobs and obtaining registration so I hope you find the above helpful.

Thanks Michelle, that's very helpful indeed :)

Apart from this bit below...which is frankly worrying! I haven't found this anywhere on the NZNC website or application form and my husband has already been offered a job...he'll be starting November if we can get the registration rushed through!

Its also worth noting you have to be qualified for 3 months before you can get registration over here.

Could you point me in the direction of where this information comes from so I can make the necessary contact to verify it please? Oh dear, how can I have missed this? :no

Hi there.

My apologies if I worried you there perhaps I should say the Nursing Council advise you to have been qualified for 3 to 6 months, its not a cast iron rule but without any experience oversesas its difficult to find a job. Obviously its not been too tricky for you so well done.
