Hi All,
We have booked our flights :clap
I know its a boring thread but I don't know who else to share it with - it doesn't mean anything but sadness for anyone in our normal lives so needed some positive vibes - can't deal with sadness lately, just makes me want to blub!
So..... even if the sale goes pear shaped we are on that plane 26th August come what may..
OMG... is there a smiley icon for terrified?

Remember that moment so well - a huge weight lifted from your overfilled mind of organizing! Should help with the sleep tonight. Good on you for making the brave decision who, when, where to fly!! Here's to the next stage of your rollercoaster ride.

Congrats on booking your flights, I can try and give some positive vibes, but I'm exactly the same as you, blubbing at the drop of a hat!
The last few weeks go VERY fast, we'll both be there before we know it!

Woohoo Nanny. :clap:clap
I can understand what you mean exactly, everyone else is sad and while you are too, you just want to get on the plane to bring the endless round of shipping, farewells and packing to an end.
Our last week flew by, I didn't sleep, felt like I was stunned and all those family goodbyes were awful. I cried half way to LA but once we landed here we had so much to think about, the pain was pushed to the back for a week or so.
All I can say is just go with it. If you feel like blubbing, just do so, but when you feel like smiling, smile too. :nice1
Good luck.

Congratulations from me too. It isn't a boring post - I was exactly the same when we got a buyer for our house and booked our flights. I was so excited that I had to share it and it's much easier to do it on here than phoning friends and ending up blubbing down the phone. Good luck with your last couple of months and try and enjoy them even though it isn't easy. Lucky you - you'll get two summers - I've ended up with two winters. My baby boy was born 2 September and by the time he's one he'll have lived through two autumns and two winters and never a spring or summer!!
Hope all goes well for you!

Hi Gang,
We chose Air NZ and via LA. Mainly for baggage allowance (2 bags at 23kgs each - or something similar)
To be honest I didn't do much bargain hunting - just wanted to go via LA and stay in the same lovely hotel we had a night booked into on our way home from holidaying in NZ last year - I didn't get to enjoy its lovely location as I spent all night in ER being treated for the mother of all migraines - and not a George Clooney on sight! :( Probably would have thrown up on him anyway! :o So that is my treat to myself.
Regards cost we fly out on saturday 26th August and are provisionally booked to return mid-October but will amend when we get there - did not want draw attention to ourselves as entering on a Vis Visa - for 2 adults and 2 kids 11 and 9 it has cost £3,304.00.
I touched on not drawing attention to ourselves upon arrival due to the nature of our visa - do you think 6 cases between 4 of us is too many?
I would appreciate info from those of you that have done it this way round.
Cheers

Nope! :)
Even if you take your full allowance of 8 bags, no one will notice I think, especially not with kids in tow. It's chaos at the baggage claim area, the customs people just want to get you through as fast as possible, no one will notice that you've got a lot of bags.

Nanny,
You should be fine with your bags, but this from a girl who got stopped for being over the 20kg allowance for a 4 day break to Barcelona. I haven't even begun to think how I'll manage to fit 8 weeks worth into a suitcase or 5.
