Hi Ryandmi!, I'm from Philippines too. I'm planning this year to go to NZ as visitor and eventually, look for a job there. Me too, I don't have any relatives nor close friends there. It's just "lakasan ng loob", determination and of course having the main objective, migrating there. I'm just getting and consolidating all informations that this forum could provide from our common friends here in the forum. These informations will be my strong basis to pursue my plan. I hope I could meet a lot of our fellow Filipinos once I get there.

Rgds,

Bradley

hello to all. if you guys are going to nz by wtr, make sure only the principal goes first, while the rest is in the Philippines. if you are covered by the 6 months rule, getting a job that fits your skills is not exactly an easy task to accomplish. make sure you do not cut off your ties unless you are have gotten your PR already.
God bless all of you.

hello

there are a lot of filipinos lurking around this forum. you want more? i'll pm you.

welcome to this melting pot of a forum, where you meet not only pinoys but also brits, kanos, thais, singaporeans, europeans, canadians, etc. they're very kind and cool on their own, not discriminating at all.

i've been here a long time, i guess i'm what you call an oldtimer.

doc annie,
plan to move to auckland as soon eventually after finishing the 3 month requirement. dunedin is cold and very boring. i would not spend money coming here for a vacation either. problem with TK is that I got stuck with this temporary job for the pr requirements.

ops, you're making me nervous now. my wife is the principal applicant but thats my plan I'll not resign yet until we have the PR but wife has to because we'll be needing the money she'll get from the company when we move to NZ.

hello ryandmi

you don't need to have relatives in nz for you to be able to migrate there, although it will be a big help to you while you're adjusting to a new country. even the brits on this forum didn't start out with family and relatives in nz, that's why some of them are really really homesick.

the filipino communities in nz are growing every day and what's good about it is everyone has had to go through a lot to be able to migrate there. so everyone is sympathetic and helpful to all the "bagong saltas" there.

cheers and good luck!

Hi there,
Its a good thing that I came across this thread, by the way pinoy rin ako..I'm planning to migrate to NZ with my wife of course and my son. I apprehension is what kind of quality living will I face there?.I've heard everything is expensive. But I'm excited whenever I see different places in NZ when I'm browsing the internet.
