Hi Again all
Do we need residency application going through to bring our pets, or can we do it on EOI submitted? Has anyone else managed to bring their pets over with EOI submitted or nothing at all submitted?

Don't know the answer to that one - I worried enough about the costs of it all! Sure someone will be able to help Angela.
Wonder where you are in Cyprus?? You say northern, isn't that the Turkish "occupied" section?

I think you need some sort of a visa to be able to bring your pets in, but be aware of all the medical requirements your pets have to go through before even allowed to board a plane to New Zealand. You need to start with the rabies shot 6 months before departure.
see this website for details:

Hi There,
We brought our dog from Holland, we didn't have residency, just a visitors visa, it is a lot of paper work, and like Nienke said lots of medical requirements, the rabies shot is very important. We sent our dog a week before us, she had to spend a month in quarantine, it cost a lot of money :wah but was worth every penny to have her here with us. :yes

Hi All
Thanks for info, I have done all the other necessary, just we do not have enough points now changes, so we need to get jobs, hence no residency yet. New Zealand have been kind enough to recognise the Country for importing the animals.
Hi Steve D I do not want to be political but its not Turkish occupied, it is the Turkish Cypriot side yes, its a long and complicated history between both side. The Turks only invaded after the Greeks were cleansing the Island of anyone who was not Greek (similiar to the Jews). Not my version but that of a well known UK reporter at the time it was happening. Most of the locals both sides now want it to end. Hence they all travel and dine together on each side, not to mention trade with each other.
Its a beautiful Island both sides, just not for us after 3 years. But the change will be less hard for us not coming straight from the UK now, as we are so used to not having anything available here. Makes you learn to cook like your Grandma did though. I spent 3 hours in the supermarket in Auckland when I came last year! So many flavours of Humous in NZ.
This site has become invaluable to us getting all the answers, how did we cope without internet before?
