I know there has been a lot of snow the last week in some areas, my question is if we want to go take my daughter to play in some where is the closest place to Wellington? We are hoping for just a day trip drive up, let her play for a little while and head home.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I know the Rimutaka road has had some snow on it this week ... it's been closed overnight some of this week ... worth going up to have a look :D

I can see the Rimutaka Hills from my office in the CBD when the weather is clear and they are stunning. Still can't believe those are "hills"!?! I guess I haven't seen any "mountains" yet!

I have been eying the Rimutaka's all week and the snow up there. There was also snow on the hills above Easbourne that lasted for a little bit last wee which was nice to look at.

Thanks for the advice, we will see what things look like today and maybe give the drive a try.
