We've been away for the weekend.
Our oldest son turned 17 yesterday - OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm getting OLD!!!!!!!!
Anyway -
We booked a cople of beach houses for the w/e in Waikanae near Paraparaumu
(A regular haunt - Diny, Mark and the lads visited us there last year)
The teenagers were in one of them - they brought every single piece of electronic equipment they could lay their hands on and played PS2, Nintendo, watched videos with our projector, listened to music and still only managed 1 yes 1 bottle of beer over the whole weekend!
We - on the other hand were next door - drinking wine - eating fish and chips watching Argentina v Mexico - reading mags and cooking up brunches/easy dinners etc with one of my bestest friends and her 5 year old daughter who thinks Chloe is a goddess ....
Even with electronic overload - we did venture out onto the beach every now and then.....and even managed the park at one point.
ahhhhh
the New Zealand way of life.
It cant be bad eh?
:cheers :nice1
And only 1 week to go until the school holidays.
OH BLISS!!!!!!!

Bliss and joy! 17!! Our eldest was 18 last month....talk about feeling old! We did a shopping trip to London, and I was thinking what we 'll do when Imogen (now 15) turns 18.....you've given me some food for thought there, although I think shopping might be higher on her agenda.....
Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend! Can't wait to share that lifestyle...

Sounds fantastic - can't wait to be over there living the life you describe instead of the rat race here!

Sounds like you had a really lovely time. Makes me feel my time can't come quickly enough! (Until I think of the very very long list of things still to be organised! :uhoh )

Hey Carol, Henny turned 9 on Friday and that made me feel old .... as for 17 .... now that would take a lot of gin to handle !!!!
Good to know you enjoyed yourselves - that's what it's all about.
See you soon.

Very nice Carol, but aren't you supposed to go to beach houses to enjoy the escape from all those electronic gizmos?? Still, better than being out barfing all over the place after a skin full! As others have said, can't wait to go for it down there. After our week camping in the lakes t'other week, we are deffo up for more of that. Kayaks spotted now, when we get a bit of cash together we gotta get it.

Sounds like a perfect weekend - kids took care of themselves & let you enjoy!!
We LOVE Waikanae - lovely beach!! Tons of driftwood - can often be found having a walk or picnick there. Would love to move there when we retire.

Will definitely check Waikanae in the near future for a weekend outing!!!
Sounds like a nice place - and only a short trip from Welly.
And about feeling old? I have no children and when I do not look in the mirror I do not have a clue how old I am ...... sorry, YOUNG!!

ah yes.....the plan is there Steve - but a teenager's life is not complete without music and videos.
Especially in the middle of winter!

LOL - I wound my little daughter up yesterday after reading your post (as is my wont) about NZ not having CD's and DVD's - you should have seen her face!!! Isn't it amazing how gullible little children can be? She just thought that her dancing to pop music days were over, bless her...
And mum even joined in for the fun too :laugh
