We're arriving in Auckland next Tuesday, and first thing off the plane we need to do is find our rental house. Now, once that's done, what's the proper way to go about the water bills? Are the water and electricity connections to the house active, or do we need to phone the proper companies? I know there are a few power companies in Auckland, but what about the water companies? Or, are the rates bills simply sent to the house and you as the occupant has to pay them?

Hi our rental people gave me numbers to call to get the electric on ,for a telephone connection and a water meter reading.
Our water bill is sent to us via the rental agency and I pay them who then pay the water company .
The Electric is paid by direct debit monthly and the Telephone bill I pay online .

Our water bill is included in the rent. We didn't have to do a thing. :nice1
We just phoned the power and telephone. The power co wanted to see visa's and as I set up a direct debit, they waived the $150 bond too.
