As you can probably tell from the subject, I already have an NZ passport (dual nationality) as I was born in Tauranga (I know, lucky me!).

My question is, would my wife and children find it easy to gain entry to the country 'on the back of' my passport?

I'm guessing that they're not going to say no... probably that she would have to wait a few years to gain nationality once in the country, and keep getting a visa renewed until that point?

Does anyone have any ideas on this? Obviously my next step is to write a letter to NZ house...

If you're a kiwi you can act as sponsor for a permanent residence visa application for your wife and children. Look on here:

http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/live/partner/canisponsormypartner/

We've just been through this whole process ourselves (my wife is the kiwi). In the end it wasn't really as tricky as it first looked. From the time we decided we were going to live in NZ (and first looked on the website above) to the time I got the PR stamp in my passpost took 2 months in total and the all up cost for the application was just under £600.

Good luck :nice1

We are doing exactly the same thing right now. Kiwi husband sponsoring me. He has the NZ passport - that's all that counts. He can sponsor you.

No major hassles so far ... just have to go through the motions of filling in endless forms (which look alot scarier than they really are), get a police check and a medical. The total cost is about the same as Matt mentioned. The NZIS do state that it could take several months for the PR visas to be issued, but in reality I understand that the 2 months it took for Matt is about average.

Hope all goes well.

thanks for the replies!

£600 eh? I'd better get saving. That means no christmas presents for the wife or kids, no holiday next year...... :D
