We have decided to buy aplot of land and then build our own home - this in theory, means that we can have the house exactly as we want it and not just get something that we HAVE To like.
Has anyone done this?

Before she left for the UK, Jocalla built and sold a house on the outskirts of Christchurch.

I am sure there are others currently going through the process.

Hi We are in the process too .............its sooooooooooooooooo slow .
Once the final ,final plans are made it has to go council for Approval which takes 6 to 12 weeks they say :roll
Supposed to be 85 days to actually build the house [2 story brick n tile ]
We are using GJ Gardeners in Auckland ,with the house being built at Wattle Cove .
They had lots of designs and we made some changes so it will be a nearly one off .
