As it's likely most people will be interviewed by NZ Immigration to see how they will settle in the country. I thought it might be a good idea to start a questions (and answer) thread.

Please feel free to add any more questions that you might be asked or if you've got any model answers add them as well.

From a earlier thread these are the questions that we've come up with so far...

Why NZ?
What would you do as soon as you arrive in NZ?
What is your plan?
Do you have any relatives/friends?
What kind of media did you use for research about NZ?
What will you do if you don't get a job as quickly as you would have hoped?
What have you done to look for employment so far?
What support will you have in NZ?
What would you do if you came across any obstacles? (List possible obstacles)
What do you think about the impact of migrants on the socio-economic balance of New Zealand and the wider South West Pacific basin?
How much money did we think we needed to make a good living in NZ
How long did we think it would take to find work?
Mainly how do you plan to make friends ?
How do you intend to find work ?
What will your Partner do for a living?
What if you do not find work in the area that you have chosen to live?
How will you support yourselves ?
Where will you live?
When do you want to go?
What have you heard about NZ ?
Has anyone given you any advice about moving to NZ ?
Have you looked at schools ?
What are your hobbies?
Do you have any questions ?
Have you visited NZ?
What is your financial situation?
Have you looked at properties?
What wages to you expect?

Do they still do the telephone interview if you have a job offer?

I'm sure I've read or heard somewhere that they don't?!

According to the nz immigration website - no

http://www.immigration.govt.nz/branch/londonbranchhome/tipsandprocessingtimes/skilledmigrantprocessingtimes.htm

" We need to interview the applicants associated with applications received with no offer of skilled employment. This is a large undertaking, and we will be completing the interviewing as we have the resources to do so. If you find yourself in this situation please be patient - we aim to finalise your application within*nine months of receiving it."

:nice1 I'm sure if anyone has been interviewed when they had a job offer they will soon put me right!

Here are some additional questions from my face to face interview on 5 July 2006:
What do plan, if you do not find the right job in your industry?
How much do you expect to pay for your flat/house?
How will you build up your social networks and get new friends?

Don't know if UK or US will be asked this, but we were asked in Bangkok:

What is the difference between NZ and the Philippines? (well, for the others, your home country)

What have you done in terms of preparation for a subsequent life in NZ?

WHere do you plan to settle in nz? why in that place?

and all the other questions posed by sarah.

hope this helps.

(have you all been interviewed? either phone or face to face?)

cheers

We had a job offer and no interview. Think they have to be sure you can support yourself until you find work.

Good luck to all :nice1
